Winter is a wonderful time to explore the mountains, as they're covered in a LOT of snow. On sunny days, it is surprisingly warm on the snow, and I can often be found snowshoeing in shorts and a t-shirt. This particular snowshoe trip leads to some truly remarkable views of Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan (pictured here) in the North Cascades, and the hike itself is pretty easy, but is a long drive from Seattle.
